Last Friday night we kicked off K + K's wedding weekend with a simple rehearsal dinner to gather friends and family before the big day. With beautiful summertime weather and a venue that we could transform, we created a relaxing, intimate atmosphere serving food and drinks that were just what the sweet couple had in mind.
The Grotto, a charming outdoor pavilion, was just across the park from the ceremony location and was the perfect spot for a casual, celebratory dinner. With just the basics included with the rental, we were able to transform the room to reflect the bride and groom's colors and style on a budget.
The couple's color palate of deep purple and orange allowed us to create a bold, bright environment. It's often easy to overdo decorating, but you can never go wrong with simple decor that incorporates the venue's features already in place. For the tables, we laid orange-checkered runners down the table, creating the traditional picnic look. Deep purple rose petals were sprinkled along the middle to complement the orange. Purple and orange lanterns accented the tables and provided soft lighting for the room as the sun set.
To add to the fireplaces on either side of the room, a DIY Paper Banner added a splash of color and displayed photos of K & K. Especially for a wedding event, it's always a good idea to incorporate the people you are celebrating throughout the decor.
The couple requested a simple, buffet dinner so they could truly just enjoy family and friends, so we crafted the menu fitting of a traditional BBQ. This was delicious and pleased all palates, young and old. Family-friendly drinks, iced tea and lemonade were a perfect fit after standing outside in the warm weather rehearsing.

Pop, Fizz, Clink featured some of its favorite desserts to end the meal on a sweet note. We chose both a chocolate and fruity option to please all the guests: Fudge Brownie Bites and Lemonade Crisps. Our brownies were sprinkled with pearls, one of the bride's favorite things, and the cookies were a light, refreshing option after the BBQ meal.
With a beautiful venue, simple decor and food, K + K's Rehearsal dinner had it's own unique style and fit the couple perfectly. We loved getting to celebrate their special weekend with them!
